DVD Drive Read Solution For XGD3 Beta Dash Consoles
Microsoft's latest beta dashboard program promises users a free copy of Halo Reach for testing the upcoming XGD3 format. The little trick that they did have up their sleeve though is flashing new firmwares to DVD drives. What this in turn did was update the DVD drive to be unhackable and not be able to be dumped. On top of that, the DVD key was encrypted and hidden away not being able to be accessed through traditional methods. Users who sacrificed their Phat Xboxes that once were flashed with an iXtreme firmware and Slims that were once hackable beforehand, there is a solution available to open the new firmware dump.
After numerous days of experimenting, a solution was finally found on Team-Xecuter that allows a dump of the new firmwares used alongside the XGD3 dashboards. Fortunately, it does not require any new hardware, just an older version of a common app - Jungleflasher. This will not work however if you flashed your DVD drive without a key.
Steps
1) Connect your DVD Drive to your computer as you normally would.
2) Download and extract Jungleflasher v0.1.67 to your computer.
3) Open up Jungleflasher.
4) Dump the firmware from the drive as you normally would.
5) Hit Yes to the Autoload prompt. You will be returned to the FirmwareTool32 tab.
6) Hit the 'Save Drive Key' button. Save the 'key.bin' file when prompted.
7) Reflash your drive with the iXtreme firmware if necessary.
WARNING: If you do decide to reflash your drive with your preferred iXtreme firmware, you do so at your own risk. There is no telling what else Microsoft may have up their sleeves.
