* add 12625 patch set and offsets

Xbox 360 Console
* new LIVE content hook patching, does auto yaris swap as well as extracted XBLA should work more consistently (hopefully)
- added unhandled exception handler, dumps except info to UART/file and exits to dash/default item when apps don't have their own exception handler (instead of crash), disable by setting 'exchandler = false' in ini file.
* added ini path setting (dumpfile) for capturing crash logs to a file, capture device must be connected at console boot time
* added 'safereboot' option for those who have JTAG that have applied blackaddr's smc reboot fix, instead of 'hard' reboot
* added option to enable debug strings to print to UART
* adjusted patches to remove default UART hooking (less chance of string collision/overlap using DbgPrint via debug out option)
* corrected a bug in the flasher ini update settings in regard to noupdater, it was setting nosysexit instead of noupdater value
* added live "blocker", reroutes requests to resolve DNS names to loopback
* added "livestrong" option to use an alternate list of DNS to block
* added ini option to set how long buttons are watched for at boot time

Disk Swapper v1.1 Released – Multidisc Switcher for DashLaunch

We last posted news about DashLaunch back when it was still in beta proportions. Now, we visit it again when it’s on the other side of the stable fence. In case you don’t know, Disk Swapper is a multidisc switcher plugin by DashLaunch developer c0z himself. This version is compatible with the new 12625 dashboard. However, it is not hardcoded to work with any specific game or dashboard.
v1.1
- fixes export table look-up to be version less
v1.0
- first release
install
=======
-add to dash launch plugins
ie:
[Plugins]
plugin1 = Usb:\swap.xex
-place swap.xex on the path you specified above
-edit and place multi.ini on the root of a usb/hdd/memory unit
content partition (just like launch.ini)
-in some cases it seems the plugins were only enabled after running
the dash launch installer again, you may want to give this a try
or, wait for a much better solution from the folks at FreeStyle

Beta Dash Firmware Flashing & AP2.5 Update:

Flashes the following:
Slim LiteOn: PLDS DG-16D4S 0272
Phat BenQ: PBDS VAD6038 04421C
Phat LiteOn: PLDS DG-16D2S 02510C
Samsung drives are updated with files from $install_extender.xex which contains 4 patches: ms25p1f9, ms25p2f9, ms28p1f9, ms28p2f9. Each patch is 48.4 KB and makes a couple of KBs of changes in parts of the firmware.
HITACHIs are not being flashed.
A new AP25 challenge table
- 4 known games are in the table – all known language versions of AC:B, Fable III, NFS:HP and Halo Reach.
- These 4 games each have a new set of challenges so the current available patches will not work with a LT+ CFW.
- Call of Duty MW2 and Black Ops have been removed from the table so unpatched and patched backups should work with a LT+ CFW. Confirmation to follow.
AP2.5 is ignored on all Samsung, plus all Hitachi drives v59 and lower.
Theories are, they must have stock drives to test the new file system, so they make sure of it, and the latest firmware.  This will more than likely, remain as another AP measure, so that each time there is a system update, your drive will be flashed; maybe not (we hope).  So, hackers will have to continually work on CFWs, of they continue to use it.
IF anyone with a Hitachi is doing the Beta, and the Halo Reach Beta works, then we can rule out that the DVD drives HAVE to be  updated to read the new file system.   Your console ID, that you have to submit for the beta, will let them know what drive you’re supposed to have.  So, they could have ruled out all Hitachi users for now.  Still, this would be a huge PR issue if they can’t update Hitachi drives, and new games with XGD3 will not work, thus you’re stalled at using older formatted games.

Sony Sending Out Warning Emails – Has The Ban Wave Already Started?

After reading several reports, spread across several PS3 Scene websites about bans and such, i decided to make this thread/news post, it seems that Sony has finally thrust down its hammer, on people accessing PSN, whilst using a Custom firmware or jailbreak device, it seems mainly allocated to those that are using F*ckPSN, the error code those whom have been banned have received is 8002A227

Now there seems to be some confusion over this error code, so to straighten it up, this code either means you are temporarily banned or permanently banned, the duration goes by the offence you have committed, here is a list of offences that could get you this error code:

You will find that i posted that exact code list here almost a year ago, so of course it wont include Jailbreak Devices/CFW/Piracy as a a reason, but looking at the list, you can be guaranteed that this reason will be added quite soon, so you decide if it is anything to be worried about.
On top of the code that people seem to be having, it also seems that many members of this forum and various others, have been receiving an email, against the use of such devices that could circumvent the PS3′s security, here is the said email, i copied it from one of my loyal twitter followers Irvysan

MultiMAN 1.14.00 - Syscall36 - No More Lv2 Patch

Deanrr has brought us a very important new feature to his popular multiMAN application. Today, marked by the release of 1.14.00, is the end of using the LV2 patch to run multiMAN. Dean has now implemented a stable syscall36 function. That's right, just click on multiMAN and play! Other great additions to this great app is the ability to download updates without the use of a USB stick, a new Update/Cover download server, and a new format to options.ini. This is definantly a much, much needed version of multiman - so go on - Get It Now! Thanks Dean!

This requires you to have a Blu-ray Disk in the drive at all times!

* multiMAN v1.14.0 is a stand-alone install no prior installs reguired. If you have never installed multiMAN, use the Mega Pack to get all the extra's (covers & themes) installed, otherwise use the base package.

* multiMAN v1.14.0 should not require you to run Lv2 v/any! Do not run before multiman! You should only need Lv2 for Fix Permissions. I would restart the system after running Lv2.

* Delete prior install before installing.

Rogero Manager v7.9c Released - LV2 Patcher V5 Built In

Rogero has made public his new manager version and it has some goodies included. The new Rogero v7.9c features LV2 Patcher v5 built in (v6 only added a new icon0.png). It also brings us optimized memory management for maximum results with LV2 Patcher.

The new version is 7.9c and includes following changes:

7.9.c - Fixed the integrated Lv2_Patcher compatibility to be exactly the same as the standalone "lv2_v5.pkg".
7.9.c - Optimized the memory management at startup to the maximum for best results with the Lv2_Patcher.
7.9.c - Removed lV2_Patcher startup notification screen for added compatibility when loading payload.
7.9.c - Start the Manager without any USB devices plugged-in & without Game Disc to avoid startup problems.

He also states that this version deletes the game history sent to Sony if you plan to play online. Quoting from PSX-SCENE:

"yes, both packages (Stealth & standard) have the "clean history" function triggered at each startup, the stealth package have also the Title ID spoofed to an original game ID."

This one has the latest LV2_v5 already pre patched so no need to run the lv2.pkg anymore.
Some might say: Hey the LV2_v6 is the latest one, true, but v6 only added a different icon, so there is no difference between using LV2_v5 or LV2_v6.

Gaia Manager v2.01

Gaia Manager has now been integrated with Kmeaw's lv2 patcher for running backups.

Quote:
The ever popular Gaia Manager software was updated today and now supports 3.55 CFW, such as Wutangrza's or kmeaw's. Previously, if running via Wutangrza's or kmeaw's CFW, you would also need to run Kmeaw's LV2 patcher pkg each time. However, drizztbsd, the developer behind Gaia, has added autopatching to his popular manager. What this means for the average user, is that you can now run backups without the need of LV2 Patcher PKG.

News Source: PS3News

Update:
"V2.01 (3.55 CFW only) Features:
It does not try to load the syscall every time you start Gaia Manager, but only the first time. that should be fix some crashes when reopening Gaia Manager. It's reported that if the PS3 crashes sometimes you will need to do an hard power off / power on (detaching cable and reataching)."

Note: The package comes with 3 different versions of Gaia. One of them takes games from the GAMES folder, one from the GAMEZ folder, and one from the BRRips folder. It's mainly for compatibility with other backup managers. Since most managers now allow you to select where to load your games from (Ex Rogero's and MultiMan both have these options), it doesn't really matter which one you use. You only need to install 1 of the 3 packages based on your choice.

PL3 File Permissions Fix For Kmeaw CFW – Solves Backups Freezing

festizio, from #ps3test on Efnet, has written a nice guide for anyone experiencing backups freezing on Kmeaw CFW. The issue itself is actually due to improper file permissions with PL3, which this PKG fixes.

Download: FIX_PERMISSIONS_Waninkoko_Kmeaw_CFW_3.55.pkg (100 KB)
Download: FIX_PERMISSIONS_Wutangrza_Geohot_CFW_3.55.pkg (100 KB)

It seems that alot of folks are having issues installing and running backups on there Ps3′s due to the bug in PL3 that effects file permissions. Here is what I have been doing to get around the black screen hangs and disc read errors.

1. fire up multiman, blackb0x, whatever ftp & transfer your backup
2. run your lv2 pkg of choice
3. run the fix permissions app that is installed from running the package located here – http://www.mediafire.com/?cyi363utdttieux

The app will go through the HD and correct the file permission errors that come with using PL3. I have been using this method after each game backup I install,
however if you install (ftp/copy) 5 at a time the app only needs to be run once and it will fix all 5 games as it does its magic to the entire drive.
Now as far as USB, hampster driven HD’s etc I can not say as I do not have any of the above so I have not tested it myself.

Tutorial - How to Install Kmeaw CFW - No Bricking + Backups + PSN

With the release of five main custom firmwares already, most of you are scrambling for a guide on how to install them. Well, the folks at PS3hax have delivered just that, bringing us a well written, easy to use tutorial, on installing Kmeaw Custom Firmware. Kmeaw is the latest CFW to be released, coming out earlier today. So far it seems to be the best option for CFW, as there have been practically no reports of bricking. On the other end of the bricking spectrum, Waninkoko's CFW is currently not recommended, due to high reports of console bricking.

Current Custom Firmwares:
Kakaroto
Geohot
Wutangrza
Waninkoko
Kmeaw

This guide will teach you how to install kmeaw CFW, how to enable the use of backup managers and play backed up (legal) games/homebrew and connect to PSN. This guide works for almost every other current CFW (minus the files). This guide is for educational purposes only.
Lets get started….

Step 0

  • Download the original PS3 firmware 3.55 here.
Update your PS3 to the original PS3 firmware 3.55 (regardless of what CFW your currently are).

Step 1

In this step we will create the patched custom firmware. You can either make your OWN patched CFW or download a prepatched one. Due to legal reasons we will not link the prepatched PUP in this tutorial, but you are free to “google” it. Just make sure you know the source of the prepatched PUP and the MD5/SHA1 match up. We will show you how to make your own (windows).
  • Download the required files for CFW here.
  • Download the original PS3 firmware 3.55 here (same as the one your downloaded in Step 0)
  1. Extract the kmeaw_cfw_lv2.pkg.rar folder and copy the original PS3 3.55 CFW (PS3UPDAT.PUP) inside the cfwhax folder (see screenshot)

  2. Open command prompt (Start > CMD)
  3. Navigate to your cfwhax folder (type in cd C:UsersAdminDirectory to kmeaw_cfw_lv2 folder and press Enter)
  4. Once there, type in the following exactly as shown in bold:
    bspatch PS3UPDAT.PUP PS3CFW.PUP patchfile
  5. Let it run and do the patching, then you should now see a “PS3CFW.PUP” folder in your cfwhax folder.
  6. Delete the original PS3Update.pup and rename “PS3CFW.pup” to PS3update.pup
  7. You have now created your patched CFW and are now ready to update.
  8. Before proceeding please make sure that the MD5 should be the following (or for any you find online):

Step 2

Time to install the custom firmware. This step is pretty much standard for all/any patched CFW file you may be using. Copy the newly created and renamed

PS3UPDAT.PUP to your flash drive (/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP). And now update your PS3 firmware as normal via XMB.

Note: If you get a error saying that your already at the latest update and it kicks you out, then you need to update your PS3 CFW via RECOVERY mode. TO boot into recover mode read THIS.

I got that error first time going through so I went ahead via recovery menu to complete the process.

If you see this on your XMB then the CFW installed properly:

Step 3

Now that CFW is installed its time to get the backup managers to work.
  • Download Kmeaw Patch here
This is a PKG which you install via PKG option in XMB. You have to run this whenever you want to run the backup manager (per restart). This PKG does certain things I will not go into that allows backup managers to run with this particular CFW. It is likely that backupmanagers in the future will build this feature in so do some research on this once this guide gets a bit dated.

Step 4

Install a backup manager (must be signed), I recommend and am using Rogero manager v7.8:
Some notes on backup managers – you must have any original PS3 game inside and you must boot from XMB.
See more PS3 signed homebrew here: http://psgroove.com/content.php?633-3.55-Compatible-Homebrew-Downloads

And there you go, you should have backups + PSN now running on your PS3
Please reply back with any questions/helps and your results!

PS3 EBOOT Repository for FW 3.41

It is now possible to play PS3 games past the FW 3.41 requirement (Example GT, requires FW 3.5) on FW 3.41. This requires a modified EBOOT. You can make your own by the following (Tutorial by Veritas of PSX-SCENE)
Anyway, this guide requires you to have some knowledge of how the SELF and ELF file formats are laid out. I don’t have a quick tool to do this for me, but it takes maybe 5 minutes of my time to do it by hand.
1. Open EBOOT.BIN in a hex editor of your preference.
2. In EBOOT.BIN, look at the SELF control info, if you see anything resembling the game titleid, it’s an NPDRM SELF and this guide won’t work, give up.
3. Use readself on EBOOT.BIN to get information about the encrypted metadata sections.
4. unself EBOOT.BIN eboot.elf
5. Open eboot.elf in a hex editor of your preference.
6. In eboot.elf, go to every encrypted metadata section (now decrypted), copy its data, and replace the encrypted data in EBOOT.BIN.
7. In EBOOT.BIN, change SELF header to indicate it’s FSELF.
8. In EBOOT.BIN, change SELF section headers that are marked as encrypted to say they are not encrypted.
9. If the game is a newer SDK version (like GT5, which is 3.50), in EBOOT.BIN, find the .sys_proc_param segment and change the SDK version to something earlier, such as 3.41. This will probably cause crashes in games that actually use newer SDK features that are not available in earlier SDK versions.
10. Save EBOOT.BIN
11. Cross fingers, run game, hope it works.
Please post your own EBOOTs here for your games, and I will keep a master list here of all current EBOOTs:
Gran Turismo 5
US EBOOT.bin: HERE
EUR EBOOT.bin: non confirmed working yet
param.sfo edit: YES – 3.41
NFS Hot Pursuit
US EBOOT.bin: HERE
EUR EBOOT.bin: HERE same as US but work only in english…awaiting for a proper eur eboot.bin
param.sfo edit: NOT REQUIRED
Tales of grace
JAP EBOOT.bin: HERE
Reply back with your EBOOT, and after confirmation it works it will be moved to front post (do not PM me asking me for EBOOTs).
