NAND Flasher 360 for Windows v1.1.0
Trancy of modcontrol.com released a new version of NAND Flasher 360:
What is the NAND Flasher 360 for Windows?
The NAND Flasher 360 is a NAND -flash program for MS Windows. With this program you can update to a new version of freeboot within minutes over USB. With a 16 MB NAND this takes about 8min, Including three extractions steps and one for writing. the Data gets verified for each extraction and writing step. 256/512 MB NANDs take round about 16mins (approx. 128 KB/s). Bad blocks automatically get moved to the appropriate positions (Bad block management). This works for the small as well as the larger NANDs (16/256/512MB).
The program also extracts the KV and Config data from the current NAND and writes it to the freeboot.bin file.
The function “write only valid data” speeds up the writing process. Empty blocks (0xFF) are no longer handled when this function is selected! This results in a 64MB large NAND file being overwritten almost as fast as a 16MB file.
Information on the hardware and NAND is also displayed.
What’s new/fixed:
* New BBM method, fixed rarely Bad Block
* Open Source
* Small Bugs fixed
* Erase Bug fixed
* Added option to delete entire flash (Data Partition)
* New BBM Option: Search Bad-Blocks in original Nand Image* Added work on file instead on Nand (emulation NAND)

A Look at the Nano USB Development Board
The folk over at nanousbdev.com recently sent me their Nano USB Development Board to test out. It’s your typical USB dev board powered by an Atmel chip, but unlike the rest, this device doesn’t carry the typical jailbreak price tag. The board itself sells for 13 euros, and last I checked, that was like $20 … give or take a couple bucks. Despite coming un-flashed it is equipped with an AT90USB162, which means you can flash any Teensy 1.0 compiled hex and you’re in business.
Flashing the nanoUSB dev board is oh so easy:
Too slow on answering? You can buy the nanoUSB dev board right here.
- Download the intuitive FLIP software (for Windows & Linux) from the manufacturer’s website
- If you need ‘em, download the Windows 7 64-bit drivers too
- Download an archive of hex files here (Hermes v4b) or here (PL3) and flash the appropriate one. Remember: you’re looking for Teensy 1.0 / AT90USB162 (16MHz).
- Depth: 44 mm
- Weight: 4 g
- Width: 16 mm
- Height: 9 mm

KaKaRoTo Updates PL3 - LV1 Hypercall Tracer Payload Released
KaKaRoTo author of PL3 payloads and PSFreedom ports has been studying a way to capture all the Hypervisor calls, and now he has released his final working payload, so other PS3 Developers can make use of it to study more of the inner-workings of the PS3 system!

* Released the hypercall tracer payload! Also merged syscall tracer, and a payload that traces hypercalls+syscalls.
* Adding a payload to trace all sc calls (syscalls and hypercalls). Use carefully, this generates race conditions easily!!
* Add a payload to trace all read/writes to the vuart by showing the hypercall and the data buffers sent/received

Today, he has kept good on his promise, and has publically released his updated PL3 payload. The new payload can trace all syscalls and hypercalls. What this means to the average user, is an increased knowledge of how the PS3 system works. |

Party Buffalo Drive Explorer v1.0.0.6 Beta
Changelog (v1.0.0.5):
-Fixed a bug with a reading function that liked to read more bytes than it should
-Made it so that it should request administrator permissions at startup (should fix some people’s issues…)
-Added the reading of general STFS info, as you can see from this screenshot: http://imgur.com/neMr6.png
-Added a “properties” window for files
-Other small bug fixes that I can’t remember
Changelog (v1.0.0.6):
* Fix Bug when clicking the DATA folder
Buffer = io.ReadBytes(0×2050);
That’s lovely… I have no idea why I chose a number like like that…
I also messed up on a rounding function, and instead of putting 0×200 I put 200. Pushing out 1.0.0.6 right now.* Oh yeah, 1.0.0.6 has a minor edit to how it detects USB Drives. I forgot the function that returns a list of logical drives, so I did a char array and had it loop through each, detecting if the drive “IsReady”, and if it wasn’t then it would throw it away. Hopefully this works better…

Video: PlayStation Move Demo Disc Exploit via PS3 JailBreak
Today HKKory has shared a video of what he calls a PlayStation Move demo disc exploit via PS3 JailBreak, however, as PSGroove.com (linked above) points out the console is already JailBroken so this isn't really an exploit and won't likely lead to anything.
To quote: "The PS3 homebrew news has seemed to slow down, a lot. So I thought I would start making some news. I noticed the demo disc that came with my move, runs off the XMB, and installs demos.
I pondered if the same method could be used for homebrew, or whatever. I backed it up with my manager, and looked in the files. I realized the installs were DATA000.PKG so I renamed a emulator to that, copied it over to move folder, and installed it.
Now I'm not a coder, so I would like to turn this news over to anyone that could make some use of it to further our efforts. But please, remember to credit me, if you work further upon this discovery.
Here are the details:
• Back up Move Demo Disc (10GB)
• Select Install Disc
• Make sure a Disc is in the Drive
• Open Your File Manager
• Open Dev0HD
• Go to folder with rips
• Navigate to BCUS-98263
• PS3_EXTRA
• D001 - D012 have the pkg files.
• Rename desired .pkg to DATA000.PKG(USE CAPITALS ON THE .PKG)
• Paste back into D001
• Go to XMB, Select the disc, Select the second tab (Or the one you change)
• Install, and launch.
I also managed to get my PlayStation to ask me to install firmware on my HDD, the screen you get when you put in a new HDD. Just put a blank .pkg file and try to install it.
If you do not have the move disc, I can supply the files to make your own. Minimal size, not the 10GB. This could be something, or nothing at all. But a new way to install your pkgs at least."

PRiSMiWi Temator Theme Editor for Open Manager Released
We reported earlier this week about a theme editor for Open Manager that was a work in progress. Today, PRiSMiWi from the Spanish forum, Elotrolado has released his editor. This app lets you edit the 8 layers of Open Manager's theme, allowing you to make it more visually appealing.
Download PRiSMiWi Temator: INSTALLER.rar
Features:
Download PRiSMiWi Temator: INSTALLER.rar
I tried to make a customized theme for my Open Manager, but having to edit the position of the texts a lot of times, without knowing where will they go, and how would the layers be, in which order would they look better, etc... I ended a little bit tired and mad... So, seeing that people really like to make their own themes, I'd like to make the work of making themes easier, and I'm developing a theme creator/editor... I'd like to introduce you my first addition to the PS3 Scene.
Features:
- Compatible with the last version of Open Manager
- It works with the 8 layers of Open Manager
- It edits the INI from a nice GUI and allows you to see the changes in real time.
It's capable of sorting the layers and drawing them on the desired order, and of loading the text parameters along with the position of the images. The only missing thing is to position the texts, and finally save the "config.ini" file.
PS: This isn't any advancement to the Scene (I'd wish to have time to investigate on the Real Scene (and will to embark myself in such difficult projects)).

- If you spend time and I get to learn, to send the item via FTP to the PS3
- Balloon Help for all parameters
- Redesign Preview
- Added button “Open Lock Manager” to simulate the lock key
- Improved text rendering
- Changed the way the selection of Covers (thanks to wuepe by indications)

XexTool v6.0 and Xex Loader for IDA v6.0
What’s new/fixed:
* finally fixed the patching ability where the target file is smaller than the source file. hopefully it is fixed properly :)
* fixed handling of bitfields in version structs (only affected big endian systems)
+ added support for natal/kinect related flags
+ added support for xex date restrictions
+ added support for xex console id restrictions
+ added support for xex device id restrictions
+ added support for xex keyvault privileges restrictions
+ added support for extra debug memory entry
+ added support for a few new xex flags and system partitions
The IDA loader for XEX files enables you to directly load an xex file into the IDA disassembler in order to look at what the internal code is doing. This is extremely useful for developers and reversers. If you don’t know what IDA is or what this loader does, then this tool isn’t for you.

abgx360 v1.0.4
* AntiPiracy 2.5 (AP25) replay sector for iXtreme LT+ firmware is checked for when a game has the AP25 system flag in the Xex set or when its media ID matches a list updatable through abgx360.dat (Fable III is the only game so far that uses AP25 but does not have the AP25 system flag set)
* AP25 replay data is Verified/AutoFixed according to your settings, albeit separately from the normal INI based Verify/AutoFix, so make sure to read the entire abgx360 output
* Video padding size changed to support the new AP25 replay sector using a variable which is updatable through abgx360.dat in case additional stealth sectors are needed so that the video padding check will not blank them out
* Removed short explanations of ISO filesizes (unnecessary, hard to keep updated and misleading in terms of SplitVid; just because an ISO has the space for SplitVid doesn’t mean it has valid SplitVid data in that space)
* gzip compression is now supported when abgx360 downloads certain files
* miscellaneous small changes
* Note: The GUI has not been changed and will still display version 1.0.2, don’t worry about it as long as the CLI app displays v1.0.4
