A Look at the Nano USB Development Board

The folk over at nanousbdev.com recently sent me their Nano USB Development Board to test out. It’s your typical USB dev board powered by an Atmel chip, but unlike the rest, this device doesn’t carry the typical jailbreak price tag. The board itself sells for 13 euros, and last I checked, that was like $20 … give or take a couple bucks. Despite coming un-flashed it is equipped with an AT90USB162, which means you can flash any Teensy 1.0 compiled hex and you’re in business.

Flashing the nanoUSB dev board is oh so easy:
  1. Download the intuitive FLIP software (for Windows & Linux) from the manufacturer’s website
  2. If you need ‘em, download the Windows 7 64-bit drivers too
  3. Download an archive of hex files here (Hermes v4b) or here (PL3) and flash the appropriate one. Remember: you’re looking for Teensy 1.0 / AT90USB162 (16MHz).
Product details:
  • Depth: 44 mm
  • Weight: 4 g
  • Width: 16 mm
  • Height: 9 mm
Now it’s the time you’ve been waiting for … I’m going to give this badboy away to one lucky reader. The first one to correctly answer this skill-testing question wins: What show ran 5 seasons (from 87 to 91) and starred Johnny Depp and that hottie Holly Robinson?
Too slow on answering? You can buy the nanoUSB dev board right here.
